Had to be done tonight... In the build up to UNITED SOUL at the RS Lounge in Woodford, Essex I hand picked some anthems from the crates. Still had over an hours left be the time the clock ran out and was receiving requests too. So I think an Anthems Vol. 2 is in order. Enjoy!
Feeling the funk tonight after a great night out last Friday at Shaft (held @ Qube in Colchester). Enjoy!
The sun was out, the sky was blue... was a great night to play some tunes... Enjoy!
Do you remember a time when you couldn't breath without seeing The Jungle Brothers, Queen Latifah, A Tribe Called Quest (Q-Tip of course) and De La Soul either a single or collaborating... Did a little tribute to those guys tonight finishing off with one of my favourite mashups of Q-Tip Vs. Michael Jackson...
Other than that we went everywhere tonight - 70's, 80's and 90's and a cheeky little track from Luther... Enjoy!
Another week, another show... Show 69 to be exact. Went all over the place tonight including a little New Jack Swing selection and of course Luther! Going back to his first album - Never Too Much this week. Enjoy!
If you haven't listened live to SoulCityGrooves for while, why not stop by some time... We have had a flurry of new DJ's recently and the schedule is looking bigger and brigther than ever...
So tonights show: Soul, Funk, Luther (of course), Caister Anthems and some 90's R&B and old skool hip-hop thrown in for good measure as I took over from the Soul General. Enjoy!
Another week, another show... Nothing planned this week, just as they came out the crates... Enjoy!
So what's this all about then, well I've just returned from a weeks holiday in Tunisia - not the best experience - An all inclusive holiday which was well, not really all inclusive and very dry and the alcohol was just flavoured water really!
So if you are thining of going - please avoid the Soviva Resort Hotel!
The only real positive was their choice in music - not always good, but to come down to the pool on the first morning at to hear some of these tunes just blew me away. So didn't quite make up for everything, but made lounging by the pool more enjoyable. Enjoy!
Well today's weather was absoluetly gorgeous. 21 degrees as I drove home from work, clear blue skies... Really set the tone for tonights show. Enjoy!
PS. Sorry about the levels last week. Hopefully normal (or better) service has resumed.
Tonight we celebrated my sons 18th birthday; well two tracks in particular Kool & The Gang (for obvious reasons) and Kid 'N' Play - the pod photo should make that obvious - and yes this was a recent hair style. Also a track played to see in the "weekender" season. If you are off to one of the regular UK or european weekenders have a great time - I will make it back one day. Enjoy!
